James 4:3 says: Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts
. From this sentence we see that our motivations and attitudes are critical to receiving the answer to our prayers. Likewise, our motivations and attitudes affect when and how we receive the promises from God.
In Hebrews 3:14; we are told: we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end
. Then, in Hebrews 4:1; we are told: Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it
. In those two chapters, we are reminded that God's people did not receive the promises of God, and were actually killed because of their refusal to believe and to act in true Biblical faith
. Our refusal to act in true Biblical faith
, after we have heard the promise of God, effectively proves that we believe God is a liar and that His promises are not reliable. This is because the promises are so much greater than the requirements to receive the promises that it can not be that we believe that the requirements are too great in comparison to the promise. Either we failed to truly understand the promise, or we refused to believe the promise. And, God treats a refusal to believe the promise as an accusation against Him and His faithfulness.
Most people who express interest in this book want to avoid the curses in it and / or receive the blessings found in it but they are not willing to do that phrase. Lots of people want to 'claim' promises made in the Bible while ignoring God's requirements for receiving those promises. Such attitudes come from people believing doctrines of devils
(1Timothy 4:1).
As it is written in the prophets, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee. This is a promise made by God to His
Christ. We can not 'claim' these promises for ourselves. This is one of the two types of promises, found in the Bible, that does not specify a condition for receiving the promise because God knew that His
Christwould do what was required without His having to specify what was required.
And I will establish my covenant with you; neither shall all flesh be cut off any more by the waters of a flood; neither shall there any more be a flood to destroy the earth. This is the second type of Biblical promise with no requirement attached to it. Please notice that this promise is given to
all fleshand is not personal in nature.
whosoeverwhich bring a blessing, such as true Biblical salvation, or a cursing, such as death. We find the word
whosoeveroccurring 183 times in 163 verses of the Bible and 110 times in 93 verses of the New Testament. It is worthwhile for people to study these Bible references in order to understand how God
is no respecter of persons(Acts 10:34; Romans 2:11; Ephesians 6:9; Colossians 3:25 and James 2:1. Also explained in the notes for Romans 14:10-LJC; Romans C7S3 and Romans C10S13). These are all promises which are applied on a personal level but which apply to anyone and everyone.
all flesh, have a condition attached to the promise which we must fulfill in order to receive the promise. Please be sure that you understand and meet the requirements for receiving the promise of the Bible before you 'claim' the promise.
Jesus. There are slight differences in these accounts, which I believe show that rewards vary based upon what is given up for the service of God. However, there is another consideration that many people ignore. All three accounts list people and things that have to be left behind. In addition, Mark includes
with persecutionsin the list of rewards. Yes, you get a greater reward but you also pay a greater price. Many people want the reward of the promise but are not willing to pay the price that God demands.
Jesuskept every promise that He made or will keep the promise in the future. People misunderstand these promises for a couple of reasons. One is that God determines when and how He fulfills promises and people assume that they can dictate these details. Another reason for misunderstanding is that people 'claim' promises which were not given to them. For example, the doctrine 'Every promise in the book is mine' is absolutely wrong. Promises made to the Jews can not be claimed by others. In addition, promises made to people personally (John 1:50) can not be 'claimed' even though we can expect God to do something similar for us if we do the same thing as was done to receive the promise. Bottom line: we need to be careful about promises which we 'claim'. In addition, we need to be very careful about promises which we make and be sure to fulfill any promise which we make.
Jesusprophesied His death and resurrection. However, the disciples had a problem with it. The problem was not a problem of understanding but a refusal to believe because it was so opposite of what their religious traditions had taught them. The context explains this truth. If they had believed what
Jesustold them in this sentence, they could have focused on His saying
and the third day he shall rise againand they would have avoided a lot of pain and anguish. However, they refused to believe, because of prior religious teaching which was in error. That refusal to believe caused them much suffering which could have been avoided. Likewise, a lot of people suffer today, when God lets them go through a test, because they refuse to believe what the Bible actually promises because of prior religious teaching which is in error. The message is simple and clear. Believe what is actually written in the Bible especially when it goes against prior religious teaching.
Jesus, and His disciples, went to a city of Gentiles. There, a woman asked Him to free her daughter from a devil.
Jesustold her
noand, in the process, called her a
dog. (A female
dogis properly called a 'bitch'.) She accepted this insult and was willing to do or accept anything else that
Jesusdemanded in order to get her request fulfilled. In this account, we see that
Jesuswas not being mean but was having her prove her true Biblical
faithbefore He granted her request.
Jesusanswered her with:
For this saying go thy way; the devil is gone out of thy daughter. Often, before God provides a blessing, God first demands that we prove the sincerity of our heart when we claim to have true Biblical
faith. God does this before giving us anything special which is beyond what the ministry gives to everyone. God does this so that people can realize that God blesses true Biblical
faiththat is demonstrated while refusing to bless people who refuse to demonstrate true Biblical
faith.
Jesuspromised that some of the disciples
shall not taste of death, till they have seen the kingdom of God come with power. This was fulfilled for Peter, James and John in the 'Transfiguration of Jesus Christ', which is reported in Matthew 17:1-8; Mark 9:2-8 and Luke 9:28-36. This promise can never be 'claimed' by anyone else. However, the basis of this promise should be considered by everyone who wants to 'claim' a promise from God. In this incident, we see
Jesusmake a deliberate distinction between these three disciples and the rest of the disciples when it comes to keeping a promise. He kept the promise to the disciples who were closest to Him and refused to give it to the disciples who were further away from
Jesus. Thus, the principal is that people who get closest to
Jesuswill receive the most and the best promises while people who stay further away will receive less promises and will not receive the best promises.
Jesus
shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost. However, this promise was not made to everyone but only to people who had already
repented.
Jesuspromises
I will make you fishers of menif they
follow me.
Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.
Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.
Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.
Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.
Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.
Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
great is your reward in heavenis promised to those people who personally suffer for the name of
Jesus Christ.
thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly. That is: when the saved get to heaven, God will reveal, and reward, everything that they sacrificed and did to promote His kingdom on Earth. And, since this is a promise that is said, literally, twice, we can know that it is part of the law of God.
Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on.In this sentence, and the ones after it,
Jesuspromises that God will meet all of our physical needs if we truly trust God for our physical needs while we concentrate on serving God in His kingdom.
But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. The
thingsthese verses are talking about are what we need to live in this physical world. Other Bible references promise us everlasting rewards in Heaven, in addition to what these sentences promise, four our obeying the command to
seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness. The important thing is to ignore people preaching the doctrinal error which claims that we can receive this reward while refusing to fulfill God's requirement.
Jesuspromises that
The Spirit of your Father (will) speaketh in youwhen people are arrested for giving the Gospel.
Jesuspromises that God will reveal things that people try to hide. The note for that sentence has links to other Bible references with similar promises.
Jesuspromises that He will confess us before God the Father if we confess Him before men.
Jesuspromises that He will deny us before God the Father if we deny Him before men.
Jesuspromises
He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it.
Jesuspromises rewards matching the type of God's servant whom we
receive.
And blessed is he, whosoever shall not be offended in me. This is a promise of blessings for letting the
word of Godcorrect the doctrine that we believe.
Jesuspromised:
Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. However, many people use as non-Biblical definition for the word
restand, as a result, do not receive this promise. In addition, many people fail to realize that the requirement given in the next sentence (
Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me) is a mandatory requirement for receiving this promise.
Jesusis telling us that people are

understanding.
Jesusis the
Christ. Only in Matthew 16:17-19; do we read that
Jesussaid:
Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven. And,
Jesusgoes on to make p[promises to Peter. At that time, the religious leaders kicked Jews out of the Temple if they confessed that
Jesuswas God's
Christ. Since they also taught a works salvation and works sanctification, their threat was literally a threat to send people to Hell, by using their (erroneous) doctrine. After all, Jews could not do the required works if they couldn't go to the temple. Therefore, Peter was rejecting the method of salvation taught by his life-long religion to put His faith in
Jesus.
Jesusrewarded his faith with special promises. Likewise, when we stand up against doctrinal error and put true Biblical faith in
Jesus, we can expect God to reward us in an unexpected way.
Jesuspromised that
there be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the kingdom of God. That promise was fulfilled in Matthew 17:1; Mark 9:2 and Luke 9:28.
Jesustold the rich young ruler:
sell all that thou hast, and distribute unto the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me. Many people believe the lies that everyone will have a mansion and be in eternal bliss as soon as they get to Heaven. Many Bible references tell us that such doctrines are lies. However, in these Bible references, we have a promise that:
thou shalt have treasure in heaven, if we do what
Jesustold the rich young ruler to do.
life everlasting, if we put
Jesus,
The gospel, and
The kingdom of Godat a higher priority than everything else in life. The relative priority must be so high that we are willing to leave everything else, including our
life, in order to serve
Jesus,
The gospel, and
The kingdom of God. We also read a similar thing in Luke 22:28-30 and Hebrews 11:24-26; although the details are different.
Jesusexplains the Heavenly rewards which saved people will receive if they suffer loss in this world in order to serve Him and the gospel. We also see similar doctrine in Luke 22:28-30 and Hebrews 11:24-26.
heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away. This is a promise that God will preserve His word and that we can rely upon it not matter what circumstances we find ourselves in.
if thou canst do any thing, have compassion on us, and help us.
Jesusanswered with:
If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth. There are times that we need to hold onto this promise while we realize some things. First, God determines how and when he will keep a promise. Therefore, we need to accept whatever details that God chooses. God will answer a request of: 'Lead me to a godly mate who will help me to serve you' while God will not respond to a request of: 'make a particular person marry me'. In addition, there are times that God delays answering our prayer so that our continued prayer requests proves the sincerity of our request. In addition to these couple of requirements, the Bible gives us more such as 'get sin out of your life'. We need to study the Bible to find all of the requirements that God put into His word and make sure that we fulfill all of them if we truly want God to do miracles in our life.
Jesuscursing the fig tree that had no fruit. Then, in Matthew 21:21-22 and Mark 11:22-26; we read that
Jesusgave a spiritual lesson based upon the cursed fig tree. He did not talk about the symbolism of the curse, but He said how to have God answer our prayers. The context gives us several requirements, which people might overlook. Those requirements are:
Jesuscursed the symbolic representation of people who have a lot of evidence of religious activity but who do not produce spiritual
fruitfor God's kingdom. Therefore, it should be obvious that only people who produce spiritual
fruitfor God's kingdom can claim the promise found here.
Jesussaid:
If ye have faith, and doubt not. This is an obvious conditional requirement. However, the
faithmust be true Biblical
faithin God and God's abilities. In addition, true Biblical
faithrequires action and the required action must produce the spiritual
fruitwhich was already mentioned.
Jesussaid:
whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer. We must be consistent in our prayer with the willingness to keep on praying for as long as is required to prove the sincerity of our request and of our
faithin God.
Jesussaid:
believe that ye receive them. The word
yemeans; 'each and every one of you personally'. Thus, the requirements are personal in nature. In addition, the word
receiveis present-tense. Thus, we must
believethat we already have what we can not yet see. Hebrews 11:1 says:
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.Unless we act on our
faith, before we
seewhat we want then we have not provided the required
substancefor what we claim to have
faithin.
Jesussaid:
when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any. This is possibly the hardest requirement to fulfill.
Jesussaid:
that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses. But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses. We must treat others exactly like we want God to treat us.
Jesusgave prophecies about future events. Within these chapters
Jesussaid:
such things must needs be; but the end shall not be yetand
these are the beginnings of sorrows. Many preachers miss the fact that the sentences associated with these phrases are prophecies that apply to today.
Jesussaid:
The end shall not be yet. However, there are lots of preachers who deliberately lie or who are deceived and claim that the 'Rapture' (
The end) has to happen immediately. Now, with that error acknowledged, we can find some promises that can apply to us personally which are within these prophecies. They are:
And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. (The message is the same but the wording differs between the Gospel accounts.) When this happens,
Jesustold us:
Settle it therefore in your hearts, not to meditate before what ye shall answer: For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to gainsay nor resist. God lets this happen so that we can give
a testimony. Unless we let God's
Holy Ghostspeak through us, we will not give the right
testimony. But, if we do let God's
Holy Ghostspeak through us, then we will give the right
testimonyand God will reward us for that.
Now the brother shall betray the brother to death, and the father the son; and children shall rise up against their parents, and shall cause them to be put to death. And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved. Now, many people teach all kinds of doctrines based upon the phrase:
he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved, but the best understanding comes from the phrase that Luke gives us, which is:
In your patience possess ye your souls. If we stay true to God and the testimony that God wants to deliver through our life, then God's
Holy Ghostwill help us and God will
saveour eternal rewards which result from the testimony and the positive changes in our character (
soul) will go with us into eternity.
watchwithout giving as many details as Matthew reports. Those saved people who stay true to their profession will receive a reward. Those saved people who act like lost and carnal people will found that:
The lord of that servant shall ...cut him asunder, and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. Now, there is a lot of doctrinal error taught about where we find the phrase
weeping and gnashing of teeth. Yes, some places it is talking about people who end up in Hell. However, it is also applied to people who make it into
The kingdom of Heaven(they are saved) but who do not produce a spiritual profit for God while they were in the physical world. No one can be sent to Hell from
The kingdom of Heavenand God can not
wipe away all tears from their (saved people in Heaven) eyesafter the
great white thronejudgment (Revelation 20:11). Therefore, we are warned to maintain a good testimony through our death regardless of what circumstances that God lets us endure.
blessingsto the servant who is
a faithful and wise servantand is doing what he is expected to be doing to serve God even though he believes God is not paying attention. This is contrasted with the
evil servant, who is described in the second-next sentence. That
evil servantwill find that His
Lord of that servant shall come in a day when he looketh not for him, and in an hour that he is not aware of, And shall cut him asunder, and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Mark 16:15-18 promises:
He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damnedand that God will do miracles (
signs)in and through the lives of saved people who truly are doing the 'Great Commission'. Acts 1:4-8 promises God's
powerto do the work of God and that we
shall be witnesses unto me (Jesus Christ)throughout the entire world. In addition, what is taught indirectly throughout the entire new Testament is that the saved people who are really doing the 'Great Commission' will have everlasting rewards in Heaven whereas saved people who are not really doing the 'Great Commission' will not have everlasting rewards in Heaven. Please see the Message called The Great Commission for more details.
For there is nothing hid, which shall not be manifested; neither was any thing kept secret, but that it should come abroad. We are told to do serve God in secret, at this present time, with the promise that God will reveal everything done in secret, with the results of that action, when we get to Heaven and are judged by God with all of Heaven as witnesses. However, this promise is also a warning to saved people who continuing to sin and not let
Jesus Christ
cleanse('completely remove') the sin from their life. Such sins will also be revealed along with their consequences, which are bad influences in the lives of other people.
Take heed what ye hear: with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you: and unto you that hear shall more be given. For he that hath, to him shall be given: and he that hath not, from him shall be taken even that which he hath. This is a prophecy and a promise which is also taught in Matthew 7:2 and Luke 8:18 and 'The Parable of the Pounds' (Luke 19:11-27) and 'The Parable of the Talents' (Matthew 25:14-30) and other places in
The word of God. Basically, those saved people who bring a spiritual profit to God during their life here, will receive a reward in Heaven that is greater than anything that they had to do here. However, saved people who do not bring God a spiritual profit will lose even the spiritual gift that they had in this life. They will be eternal paupers.

And blessed is he, whosoever shall not be offended in me (Jesus).
Jesuspromised to Jarius:

believethe promise if we want to receive it.
Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you. However, it is important to understand the context before 'claiming' this promise since the context specifies the conditions which must be met in order to receive this promise.
But rather seek ye the kingdom of God; and all these things shall be added unto you. This is often preached with the wrong interpretation of this verse. That is one reason why people don't receive this promise. Please see the note for this verse in the Book Study on the Gospel of Luke for a detailed explanation of what this verse truly requires in order for us to receive this promise.
Blessed are those servants, whom the lord when he cometh shall find watching. Here is our promise of blessing but it comes with the requirement that our
Lordfinds us doing what he means by

Jesuspromised that there will be tears here and in Heaven.
Sell that ye have, and give alms; provide yourselves bags which wax not old, a treasure in the heavens that faileth not, where no thief approacheth, neither moth corrupteth. This promises that if we truly devote our life to serving God and His kingdom, and get rid of any provision in this world and trust God only for our provision, then we will have
a treasure in the heavenswhich we can not lose.
Jesuspromised that God will

Jesuspromised

for the kingdom of God's sake.
Jesusabout future events which the Jews will experience but a little of it will be experienced by the saved Gentiles. Part of these promises are for protection which we read that the apostles received during the time of the Book of Acts.
Jesuspromised the remaining eleven (11) apostles that
I appoint unto you a kingdom, as my Father hath appointed unto me; That ye may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom, and sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel.
Jesuspromised the church that they would receive the power of the Holy Ghost.
If ye had faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye might say unto this sycamine tree, Be thou plucked up by the root, and be thou planted in the sea; and it should obey you.As explained in the note for this sentence, within the Book Study on the Gospel of Luke, most of us can not claim this promise because we do not have a level of true Biblical
faithwhich God requires.
that men ought always to pray, and not to faint. However, there are certain requirements to receiving the promise of the parable which many people do not realize. The notes for the parable tell those requirements and explain why they are requirements.
Holy Spiritwill speak through us, if we let Him, when we are persecuted for giving out the Gospel and are brought to trial for giving out the Gospel.
But there shall not an hair of your head perish.the only way that I can figure out how to apply this promise is that my hair will all be restored in my new incorruptible body.

glory. We need to have a heart attitude of being willing to do whatever God demands and plan on being sure to give God
glorythen we ask for a blessing. These two things are critical requirements of a proper heart attitude when asking for a blessing.
Jesuspromised
Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again: But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life. This means that if we truly receive spiritual life from
Jesuswe will have it for ever and we will be used by God to bring the message of salvation to others.
Jesusalone because
I do always those things that please him. This was part of His telling about His coming crucifixion and how God the Father would be with Him even through that. From this we see that God will never abandon us, no matter what the circumstances, if we are doing God's will.
Jesusgives Martha a promise that her brother will be raised from the dead in response to the expression of faith which Martha gave in the prior sentence. The application is that God honors true Biblical faith.
Jesuspromised Martha that she
shouldest see the glory of Godif she
believed. The same promise is available to us.
Jesuspromised that the people, who met the requirements for the end of this chapter, would have
peacebecause of His
faithand not their own. Where our
faithwill fail, His
faithwill not. However, saved people do not have the promised
peacebecause they do not fulfill God's requirements for receiving the promises at the end of this chapter. Please see the notes starting in John 16:23-27 for the related requirements.
Jesuspromised that those saved people who truly serve Him will be where He is and that God the Father will honor them. They will be at
The marriage supper of the Lamb, they will return with Him to rule this world for 1,000 years and God the Father will give them everlasting rewards. Saved people who do not truly serve, and return a spiritual profit to God, will have none of these promises.
Jesusthat He made to His disciples during the 'Last Supper'. This chapter possibly has more promises in it than any other chapter in the Bible. However, what a lot of people ignore, or believe error about, is the fact that ALL of these promises are conditional. First, they are made only to saved people who also fulfilled the Biblical definition of
disciple. (Please see the Message on Spiritual Maturity for details on the difference between a
child of God, a
disciple, and other Biblical identifiers of spiritual maturity.) Next, each of these promises has conditions attached to that promise specifically. In addition, this truth about conditional requirement exists for almost all promises within the Bible. Therefore, while it is good to know about the promises found within the Bible, it is critical to also know about God's requirements for receiving those promises.

Jesuspromises to do what we ask when we are being true messengers for God.
Jesuspromises the

glorified.
Jesuspromised that saved people who personally

Jesuspromised that saved people who personally fulfilled the requirements of that chapter would have
full joy.
Jesuspromised that saved people who personally fulfilled the requirements of that chapter would be considered to be the

Jesus.
Jesuspromised He would reveal things to His
friends.
Jesuspromised that our

fruit that remainshad the promise that:
whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.
Jesuspromised that the saved people who received the promises of this chapter would be
hated by the world.
Jesuspromised that the saved people who received the promises of this chapter would be
persecuted by the worldbut believed by saved people who truly believed
Jesus.
Jesuspromises that we can ask God the Father in His name after His ascension. However, many people 'claim' this promise without considering the context. It was given after the disciples had such a spiritually maturing experience that
no man taketh from you. (Please see the note in the Book Study on the gospel of John for the true meaning of this phrase.) In addition, this promise is given
that your joy may be full. As also explained in the note in the Book Study on the gospel of John,
joyis from a spiritual perspective of 'bad' circumstances. This promise can not be used to claim the lusts of the flesh, pride, not any of the many other false applications which many people claim it can be applied to.
Jesuspromised that He would
shew you plainly of the Father. This occurs after the promise of the indwelling Holy Spirit and after the promise of
ask, and ye shall receive. The requirements to receive the prior promise also hold true for this promise which basically says that God will reveal clearly the things of God to those spiritually mature people who fulfill His requirements.
tribulation and sorrowfor all believers during the 'Church Age'. Mixed in with those prophecies are promises of hope for help and comfort. These include:
reprove the world, which means that God's Holy Spirit would fight for them.
The Spirit of truth...will guide you into all truth. That means that they will have comfort from the assurance of being in God's truth.
your sorrow shall be turned into joyand John 16:22 says:
your heart shall rejoice, and your joy no man taketh from you. While the interpretation of these two promises apply to the disciples who saw the risen savior, we can also expect some application to us because of John 20:29.
that your joy may be full.
These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.
(1Timothy 4:1).

in Christdo not have the promises of this sentence (
old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new).
And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation; To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation. The word
reconcilemeans 'To conciliate anew; to call back into union and friendship the affections which have been alienated; to restore to friendship or favor after estrangement; as, to reconcile men or parties that have been at variance'. When we sin, we become 'at variance with God' and we lose our 'union and friendship with God'. God
hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christwhen He initially saved us

Christand when God showed us how to live in the flesh using The power of the Holy Spirit

Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith. The saved people who do not allow this to happen can not expect to receive the rest of the blessings which are named in this sentence. With that in mind, we need to realize that our next sentence starts with the word
Now, which means that it must also be considered for contextual considerations. Specifically, it tells us what is due to
God the Fatheras a result of Him granting this request.
we might receive the adoption of sons. The word
mightmeans that this is conditional. We must accept the character of God the Father for us to fulfill the requirement to be a true
son. In addition, our next sentence says:
And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father. I've heard this preached but, frankly, very few can claim that it helps them in their life because they have not truly received the character of God.
Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ. The problem is that people believe that all saved will receive an
inheritanceafter they get to Heaven simply because they are saved. However, the Bible, including this sentence, makes it clear that any
inheritancereceived is separate from going to Heaven. And, our sentence makes it clear that this requires us becoming
a son('receiving the character of God the Father'). In addition, our sentence makes it clear that this requires us go
through Christ('enter into the ongoing personal relationship that is in Christ and doing our part to remain in that relationship').
Now we, brethren, as Isaac was, are the children of promise. This means that the only way that we receive anything from God is to believe His
promiseand do what God requires in order for us to receive the

that thy days may be prolonged, and that it may go well with thee. The attitude that children have towards their parents becomes the basis of their attitude towards God. A continual disrespect towards God is a good way to die early.
Peace be to the brethren, and love with faith, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. This is not offered to lost people nor to the carnal. If people refuse to join God's side in the spiritual battle, or refuse to be active in the battle, then God has no reason to offer them
peace.

Jesussaid:

The time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. In spite of this truth, we are instructed to:

there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing. Therefore, we must live our life expecting, at any minute, to die and be judged for how we serve God (

The name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in us.
Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God, even our Father, which hath loved us, and hath given us everlasting consolation and good hope through grace, Comfort your hearts, and stablish you in every good word and work. This was written top people who spread the Gospel in spite of having to endure
persecutions and tribulations.
But the Lord is faithful, who shall stablish you, and keep you from evil. This promise is given to people who have true Biblical
faithwhich is: 'action based upon belief in the word of God'.
The Lord direct your hearts into the love of God, and into the patient waiting for Christ. This promise is given to people who personally
both do and will do the things which we command you.
Now the Lord of peace himself give you peace always by all means. The Lord be with you all. This promise is given to people devote their current life to the service of God, like the people in this church did.

Sonreceived His promises. And, Hebrews 2:1 starts the chapter with:
Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip. Thus, the author is drawing this exact lesson following his completing chapter 1.

For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succour them that are tempted. That is: '

faith, if we want help with our suffering in this world.

For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come, If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.

after he (Abraham) had patiently endured, he obtained the promise. The context makes it clear that we can expect the same. That is:
after we patiently endured, we will obtain the promise. This is based upon Hebrews 6:17 saying:

Jesus

Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them. That is: we have assurance of everlasting salvation because of
Jesus.
Jesus Christ
hath he obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises. If we do our part to maintain our ongoing personal relationship with
Jesus Christ, then we can expect to receive
better promisesbecause of Hos position and because of our relationship with Him.

The blood of Christwill
purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God. Please note that
The blood of Christis only applied to the saved. The
blood of Jesusis used for initial salvation. In addition, our sentence says that
The blood of Christ will...purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God. (Please note that the word
purgeis defined as: 'To cleanse or purify by separating and carrying off whatever is impure, heterogeneous, foreign or superfluous; as, to purge the body by evacuation. To clear from guilt or moral defilement; as, to purge one of guilt or crime; to purge away sin'. This does not happen at our initial salvation.) Thus, the saved are promised a change life as a result of
The blood of Christ...purging your conscience from dead works to serve the living God.
For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are the figures of the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us. This means that He is our direct representative and not an indirect representative to God.

Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.
But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was. This is an application of 'The Law of Sowing and Reaping'

Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above. However, God is Who gives us true
understandingon how to get things which are
good. And, we have to accept and use that
understandingfrom God in order to receive things which are
good. Otherwise, people do not receive this promise even when they think they have fulfilled God's requirements to receive
good. (One of the main sources of this error is people using the wrong definition for the word
good).
The word of Godcan cause us to stop our sinning if we allow it to be
engrafted to our soul.

If ye fulfil the royal law according to the scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself, ye do well: But if ye have respect to persons, ye commit sin, and are convinced of the law as transgressors. James 2:10 continues with:
For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.
For he shall have judgment without mercy, that hath shewed no mercy; and mercy rejoiceth against judgment.
Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only. Our
justificationrequires action.
The fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace. If we want rewards for sowing
righteousness, then we need to be a peace maker.

Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him. There is a lot of doctrinal error taught based upon this sentence. We need to pay attention to the phrase:
abideth in himand match it with the Doctrinal Study called Relational Prepositions. Basically, He will never leave us but we can leave out ongoing personal relationship with Him by refusing to meet our responsibilities in the relationship. When we do that, we no longer
abideth in himand the rest of this sentence does not apply to us. Please see the detail note, in the Book Study, for more details on this doctrine.

committeth sin('do ongoing lifestyle sin'), even though we are saved.
Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. This is another sentence which is used to teach doctrinal error. It really means: 'If you are truly saved then you can not do any sin which will cause you to lose your salvation because it was God Who saved you and you belong to God'. Please see the detail note, in the Book Study, for more details on this doctrine.

Most people who express interest in this book want to avoid the curses in it and / or receive the blessings found in it but they are not willing to do that phrase. hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches;. This is not some personal revelation but truly hearing, and understanding, the spiritual message that God gives to all true churches. The Second Step is to
overcome, as explained in the next point. No one can truly
overcomeuntil after they truly do the First Step. And, the promised reward is not something which we can fully understand now because it will only be given after we get to Heaven. However, considering the types of rewards which God promises, it will be worth fulfilling the requirements and it will be forever.
He that overcometh. The specific sins mentioned have some variance but all require the saved person to have a lifestyle of
overcomingthe lusts of the flesh, the way of the world and the doctrines of devils. These specific sentences are:
To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God. This is a promise of future reward when someone gets to Heaven (
in the midst of the paradise of God). However, in order to receive it, the person must be saved and must
overcomethe lusts of the flesh, the way of the world and the doctrines of devils.
He that overcometh shall not be hurt of the second death. The saved who truly
overcometh(The lusts of the flesh, the way of the world and the doctrines of devils) can have assurance that they will not go to Hell nor to the
lake of fire.
to him that overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it. Receiving this promise requires the saved person to truly
overcometh(The lusts of the flesh, the way of the world and the doctrines of devils) and to fight against the doctrine of 'Easy Believism'.
he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the endwill return with our
Lord Jesus Christto help rule it during the 1,000 years reign of
Christ. One of the big lies which is preached today is that anyone who makes a religious profession can 'claim' this promise while they refuse to fulfill the requirement to
overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end.
Lord Jesus Christwill
give the morning starto those who return with Him to rule this world.
He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels. This particular sentence causes problems because people claim that we can lose our salvation since this sentence says that our
Lord Jesus Christwill
blot out (someone's) name out of the book of lifeif they do not fulfill the requirements of this sentence. But that claim goes against many Bible promises which are the basis of the doctrine called
everlasting salvation. In addition, 1Timothy 2:4 says:
Who (. The acceptable explanation is that God 'pencils in' everyone's name at conception. He manes that entry permanent when they acceptGod our Saviour) will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth
Lord Jesus Christas their personal
Lord. He
blots out (their) name out of the book of lifewhen it becomes obvious that they will never be saved. This explanation reconciles all of the various Bible references and I have never heard any other explanation which reconciles all related references.
he that overcomethwill have a permanent position in
The new Jerusalem.
To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne. This is a promise to return and rule on this Earth with

He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son. In order to truly receive the character of God (
be my son), and to inherit all of the spiritual promises, the saved person must truly have a lifestyle of
overcoming.

Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life. Receiving the
crown of liferequires the saved person to
Fear none of those things which thou shalt sufferwith our sentence only naming a couple of things that true servants of God can suffer for His name.
Lord Jesus Christwill fight against the people who preach a doctrine which excuses living for the lusts of the flesh. These sentences promise judgment from God (
will fight against them with the sword of my mouth) against anyone who follows that doctrine.
cast (them that commit adultery with preachers who preach excuses for sins) into a bed into great ribulation, except they repent of their deeds.
I will kill her children with death. That is, the people who follow doctrines which excuse sin will see their

I will kill).
Lord Jesus Christsays that He
searcheth the reins and heartsand that He will:
give unto every one of you according to your works. That is, our
workswill be used to reveal our attitudes towards God (
The reins and hearts) and, based upon context, those saved people whop follow a life of pursuing the lusts of the flesh, the way of the world and the doctrines of devils will be punished at
The judgment seat of Christ.
Lord Jesus Christwill:
put upon you none other burdento people who are surrounded by the prior doctrines but still
have not known the depths of Satan. That is; they refuse to personally sin in spite of being told that there will be no punishment for doing those sins.
I will give him the morning star. That is: they will have an ongoing personal relationship with our
Lord Jesus Christthrough His role as
The morning star.
Lord Jesus Christwill bring sudden judgment without warning for saved people who continue in sin and refiuse to truly Biblically

Lord Jesus Christhas

for
thou hast a little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name. This is a personal (
thou) promise that can be 'claimed' by any saved person who
hast kept my word, and hast not denied my namein spite of any and all weaknesses (
thou hast a little strength).
Lord Jesus Christwill make the preachers and teachers of false doctrines (
them of the synagogue of Satan) to
come and worship before thy feet, and to know that I have loved thee. I assume that this will be at the
judgment seat of Christ, for many reasons, but can not doctrinally say when this promise will be fulfilled.
have kept the word of my patiencewill not go through the
great tribulation. It does not say that other saved people will go through it but these saved people have the comfort of this promise while saved, but carnal, people will not have that assurance. In addition, Revelation 3:11 says that saved people can lose their

lukewarm. In my experience, all such saved people are looking forward to receiving 'a mansion right next door to Peter and an eternity of bliss', even while they refuse to even learn what is required in order to receive those promises.
As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent. This is a promise that our
Lord Jesus Christwill
rebuke and chastenthe truly saved who are living in sin. Hebrews 12:8 says:
But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons. Many people who claim to be saved, but live in sin, complain because 'bad things happen to them'. In some cases, they are truly saved and our
Lord Jesus Christis keeping this promise and trying to get them to truly Biblically
repent. In other cases, the people are truly lost and only reaping the results of their sinful lifestyle. And, in a few cases, the people are truly saved and serving God and God is putting them into a situation where it is obvious that they can not get themselves out of it. In those cases, God is preparing them to receive a miracle in their life.
Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me. Although this verse is often preached for salvation, the context makes it clear that it is truly a promise to saved people. This is a promise of personal fellowship, after salvation, if we truly receive our
Lord Jesus Christin an ongoing personal relationship. He will not force Himself on us. Even as saved people, we need to keep opening the door of fellowship.
To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne. THis is a promise to retiurn with
