And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.(Isaiah 32:17).
assurance for everis
the effect of righteousness. We can only do
righteousnessby obeying God in our personal life. We can only have
assurance for everby personally obeying out
Lord.
Then said the LORD unto me, Pray not for this people for their good. When they fast, I will not hear their cry; and when they offer burnt offering and an oblation, I will not accept them: but I will consume them by the sword, and by the famine, and by the pestilence. Then said I, Ah, Lord GOD! behold, the prophets say unto them, Ye shall not see the sword, neither shall ye have famine; but I will give you assured peace in this place. Then the LORD said unto me, The prophets prophesy lies in my name: I sent them not, neither have I commanded them, neither spake unto them: they prophesy unto you a false vision and divination, and a thing of nought, and the deceit of their heart.(Jeremiah 14:11-14).
sin unto deathfor God’s people who live a life-style obeying doctrinal error. 1John 5:16 tells us to not pray for such people, just like God told Jeremiah. You can not lost your salvation but God will take away your assurance of salvation if you continue to live a life-style of sin.
And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent: Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead. And when they heard of the resurrection of the dead, some mocked: and others said, We will hear thee again of this matter.Acts 17:30-32).
For I would that ye knew what great conflict I have for you, and for them at Laodicea, and for as many as have not seen my face in the flesh; That their hearts might be comforted, being knit together in love, and unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the acknowledgement of the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ; In whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.Colossians 2:1-3).
mysteries. From them we get God’s
treasures of wisdom and knowledge. This requires personal study of the Bible and the things which only come from obeying God and the Bible, and experiencing God working through your personal life. As already mentioned for an earlier reference, spiritual maturity increases our faith, our peace and our assurance that God will provide and protect.
For our gospel came not unto you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Ghost, and in much assurance; as ye know what manner of men we were among you for your sake. And ye became followers of us, and of the Lord, having received the word in much affliction, with joy of the Holy Ghost: So that ye were ensamples to all that believe in Macedonia and Achaia.(1Thessalonians 1:5-7).
assuranceto others and to ourselves as God works in and through our lives. Our reference says that they
having received the word in much affliction. Yet, as God provided and protected them through the
much affliction, they received assurance that can not be received any other way. God lets us experience situations where it is obvious that we can’t get ourselves out so that everyone knows that it was God working when we get out of the situation. This experience gives us assurance that God will protect no matter what the situation is.
assuranceto people who are watching. None of us are anything special. If God will deliver us then others can be assured that God will deliver them also.
For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister. And we desire that every one of you do shew the same diligence to the full assurance of hope unto the end: That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises.(Hebrews 6:10-12).
shew the same diligence to the full assurance of hope unto the end:and we must personally
be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises.
diligentas we
follow of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises, by doing the same things as they did, gives us the
full assurancethat we also will
inherit the promises. However, if we are not
diligentand do not do the same things as they did then
God, that cannot lie(Titus 1:2) will take away our
assuranceof the promises, including our
assuranceof our eternal salvation.
Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus, By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh; And having an high priest over the house of God; Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;) And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.(Hebrews 10:19-25).
boldnessand
a true heart in full assurance of faithbecause
the blood of Jesussaved us and made us children of God. Anyone who has not received Jesus as their personal Lord are excluded from this. Now, in addition, we must have
our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water. That is, as we confess our sins, Jesus removes our
evil conscienceaccording to 1John 1:9-10. He also causes us to change our actions to stop sinning, which is the symbolic meaning of the phrase
having our bodies washed with pure water, in our reference. If we are not letting Jesus change our conscience and actions, then we will not have this assurance.
us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering.
he is faithful that promised.
consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works.
Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together.
exhorting one another.
see the day approaching.
My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth. And hereby we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before him.(1John 3:18-19)
we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before himif we do
not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth. Our assurance is NOT based upon a profession but is based upon
deed and truth.
truthis defined by the Bible and is personified in Jesus Christ who is pictured by the Bible. This means that we must do the
deedthat the Bible tells us that Jesus Christ did if we want
assuranceof our salvation and of everything that comes with it.
