save.
Savedis used for to indicate a spiritual condition.
For we are unto God a sweet savour of Christ, in them that are saved, and in them that perish. This verse makes a direct contrast between the
them that are savedand
them that perish.
And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.We are
saved from our sinswhen they no longer have any effect upon us. This is not completed at the instant that we accept Jesus Christ as our personal Lord but continues throughout our life.
For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.
are savedis past-tense.
it is the power of Godis present-tense which is based upon the past-tense. That makes this on-going.
Salvationrequires a changed life (repentance) and many of these verses show a requirement for ongoing repentance, not just one time at our initial profession. Matthew 18:11; Matthew 19:16-30; Matthew 24:11-13; Mark 10:26; Mark 16:16; Luke 13:23; Luke 18:26; Luke 19:10;
By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.
ye are savedis personal and present-tense.
if ye keep in memoryis personal and a future-tense requirement that is attached to the personal and present-tense salvation.
Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee.
salvationoccurs after the initial profession.
Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.
Being now justifiedmeans that Paul is addressing people who already made a profession.
shall be savedis a future tense action and this action is part of our spiritual
salvation.
For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.
we were reconciled to Godis past-tense for our initial profession.
we shall be saved by his lifeis future-tense salvation by the life of the Son of God changing us. This is getting us out of our sin (
saved) and, thereby, save us from the consequence of ongoing sin in our life which we do after becoming a
child of God.
For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for?
we are savedis a declaration of a present-tense condition that happened in the past but is still on-going.
why doth he yet hope foris a future-tense expectation that is based upon the present-tense condition which is not yet completed (or the hope would be fulfilled).
Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him. But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul.
them who draw back unto perditionand
them that believe to the saving of the soulare both
justaccording to this sentence.
Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls. This was written to
beloved brethren. The
is able to save your soulsis present-tense and written to people who already made their initial profession.
What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him? Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being aloneThe
worksmust come after the
faithon our initial profession.
Brethren, if any of you do err from the truth, and one convert him; Let him know, that he which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins.Notice that this is written to
Brethren(saved people).
converteth the sinner from the error of his wayand
save a soul from deathare both speaking about what can happen to
Brethren(saved people).
The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:
the answer of a good conscience toward Godhappens after our initial profession and
doth also now save us(adds to our (salvation / life from God) after our initial profession.
Saveis used to exclude something from a grouping. If
savedare excluded from the lost then there should be evidence that is a direct result / part of that
salvation.
Saveis used for physical saving.

The
true
Biblical
definition
of
spiritual
salvation
is:
'God's
life
in
you'.

definitions

Easton's
Bible
Dictionary
defines
salvation
as:
'This
word
is
used
of
the
deliverance
of
the
Israelites
from
the
Egyptians
(Ex
14:13),
and
of
deliverance
generally
from
evil
or
danger.
In
the
New
Testament
it
is
specially
used
with
reference
to
the
great
deliverance
from
the
guilt
and
the
pollution
of
sin
wrought
out
by
Jesus
Christ,
"the
great
salvation"
(Heb
2:3).
(See
Redemption;
Regeneration.)
'.
Morrish
Bible
Dictionary
defines
salvation
as:
'This
may
be
seen
in
various
connections
in
scripture.
1.
It
has
reference
primarily
to
the
judgement
of
God
to
which
man
is
obnoxious
by
reason
of
sin.
This
is
illustrated
by
the
destruction
of
the
firstborn
(the
strength)
of
Egypt
when
the
destroying
angel
passed
through
the
land.
The
Israelites
were
saved
only
through
being
sheltered
by
the
blood
of
the
passover
lamb.
Salvation
is
based
on
God's
righteousness
having
been
maintained
and
declared
in
the
death
of
Christ,
and
hence
is
for
the
believer
in
Christ.
Lu
1:77.
2.
Intimately
connected
with
the
above
is
the
question
of
salvation
from
enemies
carnal
or
spiritual.
With
Israel
it
was
the
former,
as
the
Egyptians
and
the
Canaanites.
With
Christians
it
is
the
latter,
as
sin,
death,
the
world
and
the
power
of
Satan.
Salvation
in
this
sense
is
by
the
power
of
God.
Lu
1:71.
3.
It
has
reference
further
to
the
actual
physical
condition
of
Christians
which
is
met
by
the
redemption
of
the
body.
In
this
sense
salvation
is
hoped
for.
During
the
interval
the
Christian
has
to
work
out
into
result
his
own
salvation
(it
was
in
the
case
of
the
Philippians
their
'own
salvation'
in
contrast
to
the
care
exercised
over
them
by
Paul
when
present
with
them).
Php
2:12-13:
cf.
Heb
7:25'.
Webster's

defines
salvation
as:

of

in

and

to
eternal
death,
and
the
conferring
on
him
everlasting
happiness.

4.

Luke

5.
