Please use this link to access the Study called: Significant Events - New Testament. Our current Study only provides links to these events within the Gospels.
Several commentators have lists of the Harmony of the Gospels, or subsets of the Harmony of the Gospels, such as where miracles are reported within the Gospel accounts. However, as I started studying the gospels and looking at the available reference documents which were available, I found that all available reference material was incomplete and, worse, contained some errors. Therefore, I created several reference documents which I believe are more reliable and which others have verified are more reliable than what is available elsewhere.
The events in the early ministry of Jesus
can not, for the most part, be put into an absolute time sequence because none of the Gospel accounts are in an absolute time sequence. In addition, none of the Gospel accounts provide us with enough information to put the events of the early ministry in an absolute time sequence. However, once Jesus
headed to Jerusalem for the last time before His crucifixion, we can put events into an absolute time sequence, Therefore, events of the later ministry are not, necessarily, in this document but can be found in the Gospel Time Sequence document.
There are certain categories of events, such as miracles, which are reported in other documents and, usually, are not reported in another document even if the event could be reported in other categories from the one where it is reported. If everything were reported everywhere it is possible, there would be a lot of duplication. Therefore, if you do not find what you are looking for in this document, then click on the Doctrines Main Menu item and search the other documents accessed from that web page.
While the references within this document are mainly links to the detail notes for various Gospel accounts, this document is not limited to linking exclusively to the Gospels. There are references to the Old Testament within the New Testament. The links to those Old Testament references can be found in the detail note within the particular Book Study on the Gospel account. However, when something is reported in more than one Gospel account and also has Old Testament references, such as the fulfillment of prophecy, the links to the Old Testament might also be provided in this document. In spite of the references found here, in most cases, the reader must go to the detailed note for the Gospel account to find such references. Therefore, please do not think that this document has all of the references available for a given incident. This document is only a high-level reference document. As a result, it is important to use the links provided to go to the more detailed notes in order to find the detailed references.
And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written. Amen.(John 21:25). Therefore, even the record, found in all of the Gospel accounts, is incomplete as there are miracles, done by
Jesuswhich were not put into a written record.
visionis a direct communication from God or a communication directly from God but given through an
angel. Both are outside of the laws of the physical reality. Please see the note for Luke 1:22 for links to every place in the New Testament where a

Jesus; before His going to Jerusalem for the last time, can not be put into an exact time sequence since we are not given enough information to do so. However, we can do a little better with the reports of the early life of
Jesus. There is not a lot of information about His early life. But, in General, Matthew 1:1-17 occur first in time. Then we have Luke 1 occur in time. Matthew 1:18-25 occurs during the time of Luke 1:39-80, but we can not be more exact on the timing of those events than what is reported here.
Jesus.
Jesusis recorded in Matthew 1:18-25; Luke 2:1-20; John 1:1-5 and John 1:9-14. Each of these presentations take a different perspective. John presents the spiritual view. Matthew presents the legal view and his genealogy traces through Joseph, who is the adoptive father of
Jesusbut not the physical father. Luke presents the physical view and his genealogy traces through Mary, who is the physical mother of
Jesusbut is not recognized under Jewish Law because she is female. Each Gospel author reveals the perspective of his Gospel with this opening event.
Jesusis reported in Matthew 1:1-16 and Luke 3:23-38. Matthew gives His legal genealogy, which comes through Joseph while Luke gives His physical genealogy, which comes through Mary.
John the Baptist. Please use this link provided to see the full Study on John the Baptist; including links to notes which deal with every place in the Bible where he is named.
Jesusis reported in Matthew 3:13-17; Mark 1:9-11 and Luke 3:21-22.
Jesus.
Jesus, by Satan. This was prophesied in: Isaiah 11:1-5; Isaiah 42:1; Isaiah 61:1; Zechariah 12:10. The temptation of
Jesus, at other times, is reported in: Matthew 16:1; Matthew 19:3; Matthew 22:18; Matthew 22:35; Mark 8:11; Mark 10:2; Mark 12:15; Luke 10:25; Luke 11:16; Luke 20:23; John 8:6; Hebrews 2:18; Hebrews 4:15. In addition, we read that God's people did
temptGod in: Exodus 17:2, Exodus 17:17:7; Exodus 17:23:20-21; Numbers 14:22; Deuteronomy 6:16; Psalms 78:18, Psalms 78:41, Psalms 78:56; Psalms 95:9; Psalms 106:14; Malachi 3:15; Acts 5:9; Acts 15:10; Hebrews 3:8-11; Hebrews 10:28-30.
Jesusbegins His ministry, and starts it in Nazareth of Galilee. That was the town which His family lived in.
Jesusselected His first Disciples.
Jesusin Capernaum. Capernaum is a city of Galilee like Nazareth is.
Jesusbegan His ministry in Nazareth and traveled back and forth between it and Capernaum and the Gospel accounts aren't exact about the time sequence of His travels. However, after the people of Nazareth tried to kill Him, He kept His base of operations in Capernaum. That is also where He called His first four disciples. When the people of Capernaum failed to believe that
Jesuswas God's
Messiah / Christ, He cursed them (Matthew 11:23; Luke 10:17).

Jesusand His disciples going to the home of Peter and Andrew where they found Peter's mother-in-law sick and where
Jesushealed her. I do not believe that we can be dogmatic about the timing of this but I believe it was after
Jesuscalled His first four (4) disciples but before He named the twelve who were to become Apostles. Please also see the Table of Miracles in the Gospels about this, and similar, miracles.
Jesusprayed.
Jesusexpanded His ministry to the region around His home town. While He did this, we read that He
preached in their synagogues throughout all Galilee, and cast out devils. Then, in Mark's and Luke's accounts, we read that He healed a leper. Meanwhile, Matthew lists several other diseases which he healed. All of these were done to prove to the people that His message came from God.
Jesuscures a single man of leprosy. The account in Luke, and the account in Mark, may be the same incident but the account in Matthew is definitely a different, but similar account.
Jesusreturning home with His first four disciples. There
Jesuscures a man who was
sick of the palsy. (From the dictionary definitions,
palsysounds a lot like polio, which still can not be cured today.)
Jesusalso used this miracle to challenge the claim by the
Pharisees and scribesto have greater authority when speaking for God and when teaching doctrine. Please see the note for Luke 5:17 for a detailed analysis of this incident which is reported in three Gospel accounts.

Jesus. As a result of that feast, Matthew 9:10-13; Mark 2:15-17 and Luke 5:30-32 we read about how

the scribes and Phariseesquestioned

the disciples of Johnasking a similar, but different question and asking it for a different reason and with a different attitude. As a result, they received a different type of answer.
Jesusgave to explain the differences between the old religion of
the scribes and Phariseesas compared to the religious attitudes that were expected in the New Testament Church. Please also see the Table of Parables in the New Testament for these parables.
Jesusand His disciples pick and eat corn on the Sabbath day. Those accounts also have the accusation by the Pharisees that
Jesushand His disciples violated the Law about the Sabbath. The answer from
Jesusincludes the fact that
the Son of man is Lord also of the sabbath.

Jesushealed many diseased and possessed by devils.
Jesusare named as reported in Matthew 10:2-4; Mark 3:13-19 and Luke 6:12-16.
Jesusdid the same thing with another seventy disciples. However, in Luke 22:35-38
Jesuschanged the instruction from that point forward for the 'Church Age'.
Jesuscast out a dumb devil. This then led to the Pharisees, and other people, claiming that He used the power of Beelzebub to cast out devils.
Jesusbecame so popular and had so many people demanding miracles from Him that He, and the disciples,
so that they could not so much as eat bread.
Jesusdid His miracles by the power of Beelzebub. Following that accusation we have the doctrinal rebuttal from
Jesus. This incident was also referenced by
Jesus. This incident was also referenced by
Jesusin Matthew 10:25.

Jesusfreeing the mad man of Gadara from many devils. There was actually a second man, according to Matthew, but he wasn't important enough for Mark nor Luke to mention.
Jesusraised the daughter of Jairus from the dead. Please see the notes for each sentence within this account for contextual considerations and links to related Studies, except the link to the Study called the Miracles in the Gospels; which is here. Please see the note for Luke 8:51 for a step-by-step sequence of events in the last part of this miracle. The sequence of earlier events is straight-forward and do not need a special outline.
Jesus, and a throng of people, were on the way to heal the daughter of Jairus.

Jesusgiving power to
the twelveand sending them out to heal the sick, cast out devils and to preach
repentance. 6:30-31 has their report after they returned and is the only place in the Gospel of Mark where they are called
apostles. A similar account is found in the Gospel of Luke in Luke 10:1-24. There,

Jesus. Some of these may have been the disciples of
Jesuswho had been the disciples of John the Baptist before and these may have included some disciples of John the Baptist who now became disciples of
Jesus.
Jesusreceived the news, He took all of them to
a desert place by ship. (Matthew 14:13 and Mark 6:30-32; Luke 9:10 and John 6:1-3) in order to morn the death of John the Baptist, but the people followed them and refused to give them time to mourn his death.
Jesus...was moved with compassion toward them, because they were as sheep not having a shepherd and he began to teach them many things
and he healed their sick. (Matthew 14:14 and Mark 6:34 and Luke 9:11.) Please also see the Table Of Miracles for references to other places where the Gospels tell us that
Jesusdid many miracles without naming the specifics.
Jesusfed the 5,000 men. (Matthew 14:15-21 and Mark 6:35-44; Luke 9:12-17 and John 6:5-13.)
Jesuswent across the sea again for a time alone with His disciples. (Matthew 14:23-34 and Mark 6:45-53 and John 6:15-21.) However, the people followed Him again and that was when He rebuked them for following only to get bread. This is when he told them
I am the bread of lifeand most were offended by the spiritual truth and stopped following.
Jesusreturning to His home region after feeding the 5,000 men and walking on the water. However, the account in John's Gospel includes many details and teachings not reported in other Gospel accounts. This Gospel also reports the people of Gennesaret seeking
Jesusfor healing, even while they rejected His teaching.
scribes and Phariseescoming to
Jesusand His disciples to pick a doctrinal fight. Matthew 15:1-2 and Mark 7:1-5 have the accusation from the
scribes and Pharisees, which was that the disciples failed to wash their hands before eating and that the failure made the disciples spiritually defiled. The doctrinal correction from
Jesusis in Matthew 15:3-11 and Mark 7:1-16.
Jesusexplained true spiritual defilement.

Jesusand His disciples going to Decapolis where He healed a man that was deaf and dumb.

Jesuswarning His disciples against
the doctrine of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.
Jesusasked His disciples:
Whom say the people that I am?. Peter answered:
The Christ of God. Following this confession, all three (3) Gospel accounts tell us that
Jesusstarted telling His disciples that He would be crucified and rise again.

Jesusdriving out a devil that the twelve couldn't drive out. Matthew 17:19-21 and Mark 9:28-29 tell us that the twelve asked
Jesuswhy they could not cast out the devil, but Luke skips that detail.
Jesus, again, prophesied His suffering, death and resurrection but the disciples refused to believe the prophecy.
Jesusgives us a few lessons on spiritual maturity.
Jesuscorrected the religious actions of James and John when they dealt with other believers who were not part of their camp.
Jesus. Matthew 8:19-22 also tells us about two of these people and gives us some details that Luke leaves out.
The disciple is not above his master: but every one that is perfect shall be as his master.
Jesusraised the widow's son from the dead. In addition, Luke 8:41-42, 49-58 we read about
Jesusraising the daughter of Jatius. Further, John 11 tells about
Jesusraising Lazarus from the dead.

Some of the other sections of this document also report events which occur only once but those events fit within those other categories such as the Prophecies Section. I tried to avoid duplication and, therefore, did not put those Bible references in more than one section of this document. As a result, please check all of this document to find all of the one-time events reported. (In general, the event will be identified with the minimum number of Bible references.) In particular, the arrest, trials, crucifixion and resurrection all have different events reported in different Gospels. The sequences for these events are presented in separate sections and the one-time reports of those events are in those sections. Further, the events of John 21 are only reported in that Gospel. Therefore, please see those sections for the one-time events related to those categories.
In addition to those considerations, there are places where a sentence or a phrase is used in only one of the Gospels. While those sentences or phrases may be doctrinally significant, I did not always include such things in this Section. (an example is the fact that Luke 4:1 says Jesus being full of the Holy Ghost returned from Jordan
.) The various Book Studies will contain these details.
Please also see the Table of Miracles in the Gospels and the Table of Parables in the New Testament for one-time events.

Jesusis the
Christ. Only in Matthew 16:17-19, do we read that
Jesussaid:
Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven. And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. This makes the disciples, who became apostles, to have the legal authority as ambassadors for the
kingdom of Heaven.
tributewhich they were not entitled to receive. In spite of that fact,
Jesusdid a miracle to produce the money and told Peter to pay the
tribute. This lets us know that government officials are

Jesusis to not waste time arguing with corrupt officials, over non-spiritual matters, but spend our time serving the
kingdom of God.

watchhad left and went to the Jewish leaders with the true account of the resurrection. They paid the
watch, and assured their safety, so long as the
watchsupported the fraudulent claim that they spread. This appears to happen during the day while the disciples were busy with other things.
Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, into a mountain where Jesus had appointed them. After that Matthew doesn't tell us any more events which fit into the sequence but ends his Gospel with his portion of the 'Great Commission'. I believe it is impossible to say exactly when this happened but, since it was supposed to take some time to go to Galilee, I believe it was after the first day of the resurrection of
Jesus.

Jesusstarting His ministry in Nazareth, which was the town where He lived with His family. When He taught in the synagogue on the sabbath day, He told the people that a prophecy in Isaiah was fulfilled in that day. The people understood that He was saying that He fulfilled the prophecy. Since it was a prophecy about the
Messiah / Christ, They understood that He was declaring that He was the
Messiah / Christ, They reacted by trying to kill Him. While His ministry in Nazareth is also reported by Matthew and Mark, they do not include the details of this incident.
And he withdrew himself into the wilderness, and prayed.
Jesusand His disciples ate a meal at the house of Simon the leper and Mary Magdalene anointed

when the time was come that he should be received up. That is, when He was traveling to Jerusalem for the last time. However, Luke is not putting his incidents in strict time sequence but reports them when they support the point he is making. We see this in the fact that future chapters report things which occur in time before the things reported in the end of this chapter. However, the theme of this chapter is; 'The Twelve Receive Spiritual Maturity' and these incidents are used by

While this is similar to what He did with the twelve, it is a separate incident involving different disciples. In Luke 10:17 reports the return of the seventy. Luke 10:18-24 has the response from
Jesusto the report from the seventy. Here we literally read that
Jesusthanked God the Father for giving different responses to people based upon the level of their faith in action. Then, Luke 10:22 and Matthew 11:27 tell us that the only way to truly receive anything from God the Father is to go through the Son of God.

Jesustaught to His disciples. Luke 12:1 reports circumstances which are unique to this Gospel. Luke 12:2-9 reports pretty much the same thing as Matthew 10:26-33 and pretty much the same thing as Mark 8:15-21, but the time and circumstances of all three reports are different. Therefore, what we have here is doctrine which was taught more than once, which shows the importance of these doctrines. Different places in the Gospel by Mark report some of the doctrines which are reported in these sections of Luke and Matthew, but Mark does not report them as a single unit. Please see the notes for each sentence in the Book Study on the Gospel of Luke for matching references to the message in that particular sentence.

Jesusis taken before Annas the high priest.
Jesusjust like Peter did.
Jesuswhich was done by the high priest and which is only recorded in John. This questioning was done either was before or after the seeking of false witnesses recorded in Matthew 26:59-61 and in Mark 14:55-59.
one of the officers which stood by struck Jesus with the palm of his hand, saying, Answerest thou the high priest so?This action by the guard is in response to the question of John 18:19 and the answer of John 18:20-21. We see a similar action by others in Matthew 26:67-68; Mark 14:65 and Luke 22:63-64; however that was different men and at a different time.
Jesuswas sent to Pilate for a judgment of death since it was not lawful for the Jews to give a death sentence. Pilate asks for a specific charge against
Jesus. We also have the discussion between Pilate and the Jewish religious leaders which is not reported elsewhere.
Jesusif He was a (lower-case)
king, which meant 'a human king on this Earth'.
Jesusasked Pilate if he believed that
Jesuswas the
King of the Jews. In the other Gospels we only read that
Jesusrepeated his answer back to him.
Jesusbetween times when Pilate tried to release Him. This is different from what happens after Pilate condemns
Jesusto be crucified.
Take ye him, and crucify him: for I find no fault in himthey replied with:
We have a law, and by our law he ought to die, because he made himself the Son of GodJohn 19:8-9 then tells us that
When Pilate therefore heard that saying, he was the more afraid; And went again into the judgment hall, and saith unto Jesus, Whence art thou? This led to a discussion between Pilate and
Jesusthat is only recorded in John's Gospel.
Jesuswas more than 'just a human man' but it was too late for his personal salvation.
chief priests answered, We have no king but Caesar. They deliberately used a lower-case
kingin response to the question from Pilate of
Shall I crucify your King?Pilate used an upper-case
King, which was a difference which the religious rulers understood but deliberately perverted their answer.
Jesuswere not broken but that His side was pierced, in order to fulfill scripture. These sentences fulfill the prophecies of Exodus 12:46; Numbers 9:12; Psalms 22:14; Psalms 22:16-17; Psalms 34:20 and Zechariah 12:10.
Jesusdealt with Mary Magdalene in a personal way, as recorded in John 20:10-18 are only found in that Gospel.

Jesusthat He had offended the Pharisees. The response from
Jesusincluded:
Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. That is: 'Ignore them. Their offence is not important'. Yet, as Matthew 17:24-27 tells us, government officials were trying to collect a fee that they could not legally charge. However,
Jesusfirst made sure that Peter understood that the charge was illegal and then told him:
Notwithstanding, lest we should offend them, go thou to the sea, and cast an hook, and take up the fish that first cometh up; and when thou hast opened his mouth, thou shalt find a piece of money: that take, and give unto them for me and thee.Governments were created by God and the Bible tells us that members of the government are
ministers of God, even when they do wrong. Therefore,
Jesusrespected their authority. However, the Pharisees had no legitimate authority and only were able to command people because the people did not stand up to them. Even when they had
Jesuscrucified, they had to get the people to back them and, when the people did that, the people brought a curse from God upon themselves and their children. Thus, what we see here is that
Jesusrespected legitimate God-given authority, even when it was being abusive. However, He also refused to respect self-appointed authority.
Please see the note for Galatians 4:24 about the word allegory
and the explanation of how it is different from a parable
. Please see the note for Mark 3:22 for a couple of good Bible definitions for the word parable
.
James 4:3 says: Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts
. From this sentence we see that our motivations and attitudes are critical to receiving the answer to our prayers. Likewise, our motivations and attitudes affect when and how we receive the promises from God.
In Hebrews 3:14, we are told: we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end
. Then, in Hebrews 4:1, we are told: Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it
. In those two chapters, we are reminded that God's people did not receive the promises of God, and were actually killed because of their refusal to believe and to act in true Biblical faith
. Our refusal to act in true Biblical faith
, after we have heard the promise of God, effectively proves that we believe God is a liar and that His promises are not reliable. This is because the promises are so much greater than the requirements to receive the promises that it can not be that we believe that the requirements are too great in comparison to the promise. Either we failed to truly understand the promise, or we refused to believe the promise. And, God treats a refusal to believe the promise as an accusation against Him and His faithfulness.
Most people who express interest in this book want to avoid the curses in it and / or receive the blessings found in it but they are not willing to do that phrase. Lots of people want to 'claim' promises made in the Bible while ignoring God's requirements for receiving those promises. Such attitudes come from people believing doctrines of devils
(1Timothy 4:1).
As it is written in the prophets, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee. This is a promise made by God to His
Christ. We can not 'claim' these promises for ourselves. This is one of the two types of promises, found in the Bible, that does not specify a condition for receiving the promise because God knew that His
Christwould do what was required without His having to specify what was required.
And I will establish my covenant with you; neither shall all flesh be cut off any more by the waters of a flood; neither shall there any more be a flood to destroy the earth. This is the second type of Biblical promise with no requirement attached to it. Please notice that this promise is given to
all fleshand is not personal in nature.
whosoeverwhich bring a blessing, such as true Biblical salvation, or a cursing, such as death. We find the word
whosoeveroccurring 183 times in 163 verses of the Bible and 110 times in 93 verses of the New Testament. It is worthwhile for people to study these Bible references in order to understand how God
is no respecter of persons(Acts 10:34; Romans 2:11; Ephesians 6:9; Colossians 3:25 and James 2:1. Also explained in the notes for Romans 14:10-LJC; Romans C7S3 and Romans C10S13). These are all promises which are applied on a personal level but which apply to anyone and everyone.
all flesh, have a condition attached to the promise which we must fulfill in order to receive the promise. Please be sure that you understand and meet the requirements for receiving the promise of the Bible before you 'claim' the promise.
Jesus. There are slight differences in these accounts, which I believe show that rewards vary based upon what is given up for the service of God. However, there is another consideration that many people ignore. All three accounts list people and things that have to be left behind. In addition, Mark includes
with persecutionsin the list of rewards. Yes, you get a greater reward but you also pay a greater price. Many people want the reward of the promise but are not willing to pay the price that God demands.
Jesuskept every promise that He made or will keep the promise in the future. People misunderstand these promises for a couple of reasons. One is that God determines when and how He fulfills promises and people assume that they can dictate these details. Another reason for misunderstanding is that people 'claim' promises which were not given to them. For example, the doctrine 'Every promise in the book is mine' is absolutely wrong. Promises made to the Jews can not be claimed by others. In addition, promises made to people personally (John 1:50) can not be 'claimed' even though we can expect God to do something similar for us if we do the same thing as was done to receive the promise. Bottom line: we need to be careful about promises which we 'claim'. In addition, we need to be very careful about promises which we make and be sure to fulfill any promise which we make.
Jesusprophesied His death and resurrection. However, the disciples had a problem with it. The problem was not a problem of understanding but a refusal to believe because it was so opposite of what their religious traditions had taught them. The context explains this truth. If they had believed what
Jesustold them in this sentence, they could have focused on His saying
and the third day he shall rise againand they would have avoided a lot of pain and anguish. However, they refused to believe, because of prior religious teaching which was in error. That refusal to believe caused them much suffering which could have been avoided. Likewise, a lot of people suffer today, when God lets them go through a test, because they refuse to believe what the Bible actually promises because of prior religious teaching which is in error. The message is simple and clear. Believe what is actually written in the Bible especially when it goes against prior religious teaching.
Jesus, and His disciples, went to a city of Gentiles. There, a woman asked Him to free her daughter from a devil.
Jesustold her
noand, in the process, called her a
dog. (A female
dogis properly called a 'bitch'.) She accepted this insult and was willing to do or accept anything else that
Jesusdemanded in order to get her request fulfilled. In this account, we see that
Jesuswas not being mean but was having her prove her true Biblical
faithbefore He granted her request.
Jesusanswered her with:
For this saying go thy way; the devil is gone out of thy daughter. Often, before God provides a blessing, God first demands that we prove the sincerity of our heart when we claim to have true Biblical
faith. God does this before giving us anything special which is beyond what the ministry gives to everyone. God does this so that people can realize that God blesses true Biblical
faiththat is demonstrated while refusing to bless people who refuse to demonstrate true Biblical
faith.
Jesuspromised that some of the disciples
shall not taste of death, till they have seen the kingdom of God come with power. This was fulfilled for Peter, James and John in the 'Transfiguration of Jesus Christ', which is reported in Matthew 17:1-8; Mark 9:2-8 and Luke 9:28-36. This promise can never be 'claimed' by anyone else. However, the basis of this promise should be considered by everyone who wants to 'claim' a promise from God. In this incident, we see
Jesusmake a deliberate distinction between these three disciples and the rest of the disciples when it comes to keeping a promise. He kept the promise to the disciples who were closest to Him and refused to give it to the disciples who were further away from
Jesus. Thus, the principal is that people who get closest to
Jesuswill receive the most and the best promises while people who stay further away will receive less promises and will not receive the best promises.
Jesus
shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost. However, this promise was not made to everyone but only to people who had already
repented.
Jesuspromises
I will make you fishers of menif they
follow me.
Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.
Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.
Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.
Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.
Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.
Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
great is your reward in heavenis promised to those people who personally suffer for the name of
Jesus Christ.
thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly. That is: when the saved get to heaven, God will reveal, and reward, everything that they sacrificed and did to promote His kingdom on Earth. And, since this is a promise that is said, literally, twice, we can know that it is part of the law of God.
Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on.In this sentence, and the ones after it,
Jesuspromises that God will meet all of our physical needs if we truly trust God for our physical needs while we concentrate on serving God in His kingdom.
But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. The
thingsthese verses are talking about are what we need to live in this physical world. Other Bible references promise us everlasting rewards in Heaven, in addition to what these sentences promise, four our obeying the command to
seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness. The important thing is to ignore people preaching the doctrinal error which claims that we can receive this reward while refusing to fulfill God's requirement.
Jesuspromises that
the Spirit of your Father (will) speaketh in youwhen people are arrested for giving the Gospel.
Jesuspromises that God will reveal things that people try to hide. The note for that sentence has links to other Bible references with similar promises.
Jesuspromises that He will confess us before God the Father if we confess Him before men.
Jesuspromises that He will deny us before God the Father if we deny Him before men.
Jesuspromises
He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it.
Jesuspromises rewards matching the type of God's servant whom we
receive.
And blessed is he, whosoever shall not be offended in me. This is a promise of blessings for letting the
word of Godcorrect the doctrine that we believe.
Jesuspromised:
Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. However, many people use as non-Biblical definition for the word
restand, as a result, do not receive this promise. In addition, many people fail to realize that the requirement given in the next sentence (
Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me) is a mandatory requirement for receiving this promise.
Jesusis telling us that people are
blessedwhen they

understanding.
Jesusis the
Christ. Only in Matthew 16:17-19, do we read that
Jesussaid:
Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven. And,
Jesusgoes on to make p[promises to Peter. At that time, the religious leaders kicked Jews out of the Temple if they confessed that
Jesuswas God's
Christ. Since they also taught a works salvation and works sanctification, their threat was literally a threat to send people to Hell, by using their (erroneous) doctrine. After all, Jews could not do the required works if they couldn't go to the temple. Therefore, Peter was rejecting the method of salvation taught by his life-long religion to put His faith in
Jesus.
Jesusrewarded his faith with special promises. Likewise, when we stand up against doctrinal error and put true Biblical faith in
Jesus, we can expect God to reward us in an unexpected way.
Jesuspromised that
there be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the kingdom of God. That promise was fulfilled in Matthew 17:1; Mark 9:2 and Luke 9:28.
Jesustold the rich young ruler:
sell all that thou hast, and distribute unto the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me. Many people believe the lies that everyone will have a mansion and be in eternal bliss as soon as they get to Heaven. Many Bible references tell us that such doctrines are lies. However, in these Bible references, we have a promise that:
thou shalt have treasure in heaven, if we do what
Jesustold the rich young ruler to do.
life everlasting, if we put
Jesus,
the gospel, and
the kingdom of Godat a higher priority than everything else in life. The relative priority must be so high that we are willing to leave everything else, including our
life, in order to serve
Jesus,
the gospel, and
the kingdom of God. We also read a similar thing in Luke 22:28-30 and Hebrews 11:24-26, although the details are different.
Jesusexplains the Heavenly rewards which saved people will receive if they suffer loss in this world in order to serve Him and the gospel. We also see similar doctrine in Luke 22:28-30 and Hebrews 11:24-26.
heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away. This is a promise that God will preserve His word and that we can rely upon it not matter what circumstances we find ourselves in.
if thou canst do any thing, have compassion on us, and help us.
Jesusanswered with:
If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth. There are times that we need to hold onto this promise while we realize some things. First, God determines how and when he will keep a promise. Therefore, we need to accept whatever details that God chooses. God will answer a request of: 'Lead me to a godly mate who will help me to serve you' while God will not respond to a request of: 'make a particular person marry me'. In addition, there are times that God delays answering our prayer so that our continued prayer requests proves the sincerity of our request. In addition to these couple of requirements, the Bible gives us more such as 'get sin out of your life'. We need to study the Bible to find all of the requirements that God put into His word and make sure that we fulfill all of them if we truly want God to do miracles in our life.
Jesuscursing the fig tree that had no fruit. Then, in Matthew 21:21-22 and Mark 11:22-26, we read that
Jesusgave a spiritual lesson based upon the cursed fig tree. He did not talk about the symbolism of the curse, but He said how to have God answer our prayers. The context gives us several requirements, which people might overlook. Those requirements are:
Jesuscursed the symbolic representation of people who have a lot of evidence of religious activity but who do not produce spiritual
fruitfor God's kingdom. Therefore, it should be obvious that only people who produce spiritual
fruitfor God's kingdom can claim the promise found here.
Jesussaid:
If ye have faith, and doubt not. This is an obvious conditional requirement. However, the
faithmust be true Biblical
faithin God and God's abilities. In addition, true Biblical
faithrequires action and the required action must produce the spiritual
fruitwhich was already mentioned.
Jesussaid:
whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer. We must be consistent in our prayer with the willingness to keep on praying for as long as is required to prove the sincerity of our request and of our
faithin God.
Jesussaid:
believe that ye receive them. The word
yemeans; 'each and every one of you personally'. Thus, the requirements are personal in nature. In addition, The word
receiveis present-tense. Thus, we must
believethat we already have what we can not yet see. Hebrews 11:1 says:
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.Unless we act on our
faith, before we
seewhat we want then we have not provided the required
substancefor what we claim to have
faithin.
Jesussaid:
when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any. This is possibly the hardest requirement to fulfill.
Jesussaid:
that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses. But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses. We must treat others exactly like we want God to treat us.
Jesusgave prophecies about future events. Within these chapters
Jesussaid:
such things must needs be; but the end shall not be yetand
these are the beginnings of sorrows. Many preachers miss the fact that the sentences associated with these phrases are prophecies that apply to today.
Jesussaid:
the end shall not be yet. However, there are lots of preachers who deliberately lie or who are deceived and claim that the 'Rapture' (
the end) has to happen immediately. Now, with that error acknowledged, we can find some promises that can apply to us personally which are within these prophecies. They are:
And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.. (The message is the same but the wording differs between the Gospel accounts.) When this happens,
Jesustold us:
Settle it therefore in your hearts, not to meditate before what ye shall answer: For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to gainsay nor resist. God lets this happen so that we can give
a testimony. Unless we let God's
Holy Ghostspeak through us, we will not give the right
testimony. But, if we do let God's
Holy Ghostspeak through us, then we will give the right
testimonyand God will reward us for that.
Now the brother shall betray the brother to death, and the father the son; and children shall rise up against their parents, and shall cause them to be put to death. And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved. Now, many people teach all kinds of doctrines based upon the phrase:
he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved, but the best understanding comes from the phrase that Luke gives us, which is:
In your patience possess ye your souls. If we stay true to God and the testimony that God wants to deliver through our life, then God's
Holy Ghostwill help us and God will
saveour eternal rewards which result from the testimony and the positive changes in our character (
soul) will go with us into eternity.
watchwithout giving as many details as Matthew reports. Those saved people who stay true to their profession will receive a reward. Those saved people who act like lost and carnal people will found that:
The lord of that servant shall ...cut him asunder, and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. Now, there is a lot of doctrinal error taught about where we find the phrase
weeping and gnashing of teeth. Yes, some places it is talking about people who end up in Hell. However, it is also applied to people who make it into
the kingdom of Heaven(they are saved) but who do not produce a spiritual profit for God while they were in the physical world. No one can be sent to Hell from
the kingdom of Heavenand God can not
wipe away all tears from their (saved people in Heaven) eyesafter the
great white thronejudgment (Revelation 20:11). Therefore, we are warned to maintain a good testimony through our death regardless of what circumstances that God lets us endure.
blessingsto the servant who is
a faithful and wise servantand is doing what he is expected to be doing to serve God even though he believes God is not paying attention. This is contrasted with the
evil servant, who is described in the second-next sentence. That
evil servantwill find that His
Lord of that servant shall come in a day when he looketh not for him, and in an hour that he is not aware of, And shall cut him asunder, and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Mark 16:15-18 promises:
He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damnedand that God will do miracles (
signs)in and through the lives of saved people who truly are doing the 'Great Commission'. Acts 1:4-8 promises God's
powerto do the work of God and that we
shall be witnesses unto me (Jesus Christ)throughout the entire world. In addition, what is taught indirectly throughout the entire new Testament is that the saved people who are really doing the 'Great Commission' will have everlasting rewards in Heaven whereas saved people who are not really doing the 'Great Commission' will not have everlasting rewards in Heaven. Please see the Message called The Great Commission for more details.
For there is nothing hid, which shall not be manifested; neither was any thing kept secret, but that it should come abroad. We are told to do serve God in secret, at this present time, with the promise that God will reveal everything done in secret, with the results of that action, when we get to Heaven and are judged by God with all of Heaven as witnesses. However, this promise is also a warning to saved people who continuing to sin and not let
Jesus Christ
cleanse('completely remove') the sin from their life. Such sins will also be revealed along with their consequences, which are bad influences in the lives of other people.
Take heed what ye hear: with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you: and unto you that hear shall more be given. For he that hath, to him shall be given: and he that hath not, from him shall be taken even that which he hath. This is a prophecy and a promise which is also taught in Matthew 7:2 and Luke 8:18 and 'The Parable of The Pounds' (Luke 19:11-27) and 'The Parable of The Talents' (Matthew 25:14-30) and other places in
the word of God. Basically, those saved people who bring a spiritual profit to God during their life here, will receive a reward in Heaven that is greater than anything that they had to do here. However, saved people who do not bring God a spiritual profit will lose even the spiritual gift that they had in this life. They will be eternal paupers.

Jesuspromised to Jarius:
Fear not: believe only, and she shall be made whole. Here we see that we need to
believethe promise if we want to receive it.
Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you. However, it is important to understand the context before 'claiming' this promise since the context specifies the conditions which must be met in order to receive this promise.
But rather seek ye the kingdom of God; and all these things shall be added unto you. This is often preached with the wrong interpretation of this verse. That is one reason why people don't receive this promise. Please see the note for this verse in the Book Study on the Gospel of Luke for a detailed explanation of what this verse truly requires in order for us to receive this promise.
Blessed are those servants, whom the lord when he cometh shall find watching. Here is our promise of blessing but it comes with the requirement that our
Lordfinds us doing what he means by
watchingwhen He comes.
Jesuspromised that there will be tears here and in Heaven.
Sell that ye have, and give alms; provide yourselves bags which wax not old, a treasure in the heavens that faileth not, where no thief approacheth, neither moth corrupteth. This promises that if we truly devote our life to serving God and His kingdom, and get rid of any provision in this world and trust God only for our provision, then we will have
a treasure in the heavenswhich we can not lose.
Jesuspromised that God will

Jesuspromised

Jesusabout future events which the Jews will experience but a little of it will be experienced by the saved Gentiles. Part of these promises are for protection which we read that the apostles received during the time of the Book of Acts.
Jesuspromised the remaining eleven (11) apostles that
I appoint unto you a kingdom, as my Father hath appointed unto me; That ye may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom, and sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel.
Jesuspromised the church that they would receive the power of the Holy Ghost.
If ye had faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye might say unto this sycamine tree, Be thou plucked up by the root, and be thou planted in the sea; and it should obey you.As explained in the note for this sentence, within the Book Study on the Gospel of Luke, most of us can not claim this promise because we do not have a level of true Biblical
faithwhich God requires.
that men ought always to pray, and not to faint. However, there are certain requirements to receiving the promise of the parable which many people do not realize. The notes for the parable tell those requirements and explain why they are requirements.
Holy Spiritwill speak through us, if we let Him, when we are persecuted for giving out the Gospel and are brought to trial for giving out the Gospel.

glorythen we ask for a blessing. These two things are critical requirements of a proper heart attitude when asking for a blessing.
Jesuspromised

I do always those things that please him. This was part of His telling about His coming crucifixion and how God the Father would be with Him even through that. From this we see that God will never abandon us, no matter what the circumstances, if we are doing God's will.
Jesusgives Martha a promise that her brother will be raised from the dead in response to the expression of faith which Martha gave in the prior sentence. The application is that God honors true Biblical faith.
Jesuspromised Martha that she
shouldest see the glory of Godif she
believed. The same promise is available to us.
Jesuspromised that the people, who met the requirements for the end of this chapter, would have
peacebecause of His
faithand not their own. Where our
faithwill fail, His
faithwill not. However, saved people do not have the promised
peacebecause they do not fulfill God's requirements for receiving the promises at the end of this chapter. Please see the notes starting in John 16:23-27 for the related requirements.
Jesuspromised that those saved people who truly serve Him will be where He is and that God the Father will honor them. They will be at
the marriage supper of the Lamb, they will return with Him to rule this world for 1,000 years and God the Father will give them everlasting rewards. Saved people who do not truly serve, and return a spiritual profit to God, will have none of these promises.
Jesusthat He made to His disciples during the 'Last Supper'. This chapter possibly has more promises in it than any other chapter in the Bible. However, what a lot of people ignore, or believe error about, is the fact that ALL of these promises are conditional. First, they are made only to saved people who also fulfilled the Biblical definition of
disciple. (Please see the Message on Spiritual Maturity for details on the difference between a
child of God, a
disciple, and other Biblical identifiers of spiritual maturity.) Next, each of these promises has conditions attached to that promise specifically. In addition, this truth about conditional requirement exists for almost all promises within the Bible. Therefore, while it is good to know about the promises found within the Bible, it is critical to also know about God's requirements for receiving those promises.

Jesuspromises the saved people who have God doing miracles that they will have their Godly requests met.
Jesuspromises to do what we ask when we are being true messengers for God.
Jesuspromises the

the Spirit of truth.
Jesuspromises His presence.
Jesuspromises our own resurrection.
Jesuspromises spiritual knowledge based upon fulfilled prophecy.

Jesuspromised
Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you. However, this promise has limits as to whom can claim it. Please see the note for this sentence, within the Book Study on the gospel of John, to find those limits
Jesuspromised that saved people would
bringeth forth much fruitif they
abideth in me (Jesus).
Jesuspromised that saved people would not
bringeth forth much fruitwould be
cast forth as a branch, and is withered...and they are burned.
Jesuspromised that saved people who personally
abide in me, and my words abide in youwould get their prayers answered because their life caused God the Father to be
glorified.
Jesuspromised that saved people who personally
keep my commandments
shall abide in my love.
Jesuspromised that saved people who personally fulfilled the requirements of that chapter would have
full joy.
Jesuspromised that saved people who personally fulfilled the requirements of that chapter would be considered to be the
friendof
Jesus.
Jesuspromised He would reveal things to His
friends.
Jesuspromised that our
fruit should remainand that people who produced
fruit that remainshad the promise that:
whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.
Jesuspromised that the saved people who received the promises of this chapter would be
hated by the world.
Jesuspromised that the saved people who received the promises of this chapter would be
persecuted by the worldbut believed by saved people who truly believed
Jesus.
Jesuspromises that we can ask God the Father in His name after His ascension. However, many people 'claim' this promise without considering the context. It was given after the disciples had such a spiritually maturing experience that
no man taketh from you. (Please see the note in the Book Study on the gospel of John for the true meaning of this phrase.) In addition, this promise is given
that your joy may be full. As also explained in the note in the Book Study on the gospel of John,
joyis from a spiritual perspective of 'bad' circumstances. This promise can not be used to claim the lusts of the flesh, pride, not any of the many other false applications which many people claim it can be applied to.
Jesuspromised that He would
shew you plainly of the Father. This occurs after the promise of the indwelling Holy Spirit and after the promise of
ask, and ye shall receive. The requirements to receive the prior promise also hold true for this promise which basically says that God will reveal clearly the things of God to those spiritually mature people who fulfill His requirements.
tribulation and sorrowfor all believers during the 'Church Age'. Mixed in with those prophecies are promises of hope for help and comfort. These include:
reprove the world, which means that God's Holy Spirit would fight for them.
the Spirit of truth...will guide you into all truth. That means that they will have comfort from the assurance of being in God's truth.
your sorrow shall be turned into joyand John 16:22 says:
your heart shall rejoice, and your joy no man taketh from you. While the interpretation of these two promises apply to the disciples who saw the risen savior, we can also expect some application to us because of John 20:29.
that your joy may be full.
These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.
Revelation 22:16 says: I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches.
This tells us that our Lord Jesus Christ
is the true author. The angel
is: 'the messenger' who has a job to deliver the original message without altering it in any way. Think about if someone calls you on the phone and the function of the phone in that conversation. That is the function of God's 'the messenger' in delivering this Revelation. And, the 'the messenger' includes John and all of the angels
who delivered the messages and sights to John for him to relay to us.
Revelation 22:6 tells us These sayings are faithful and true: and the Lord God of the holy prophets sent his angel to shew unto his servants the things which must shortly be done
. This tells us that ALL prophecy, found in the word of God
, is faithful and true
. In addition, 2Timothy 3:16-17 says: All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works
. That means that all of these prophecies are backed by the character of God. Any perversion of them is an attack on the character of God.
Revelation 1:10 says: What thou seest, write in a book, and send it (to God's people)
. However, Revelation 10:4 says: And when the seven thunders had uttered their voices, I was about to write: and I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Seal up those things which the seven thunders uttered, and write them not
. Thus, true prophecy comes from God and God decides what is revealed and what is not revealed.
John 16:17-18 tells us that the disciples were confused because they tried to understand prophecy by discussing it among themselves using their own natural reasoning. They could not understand the prophecy that way. The same is true for people today. That is why there are so many false prophets teaching error and doctrines of devils about unfulfilled prophecy. No person completely understands any unfulfilled prophecy of today, even though false prophets claim to do so. At least part of the details are hid from all men, by God, until after the fulfillment of the prophecy. Anyone who claims otherwise proves that they represent a devil.
Revelation 1:12-16 gives us a description of our Lord Jesus Christ
that John saw. That description must, obviously, be understood symbolically and spiritually. It is a simple example of a principal which applies to all prophecy. All prophecy must be understood symbolically and spiritually. However, like parables, God deliberately leads the lost and the carnal into errors. Therefore, there is a lot of wrong interpretation of Bible prophecy. We must look at the life to the person giving the interpretation and see if the true power of God is in their life. Are they willing to suffer in the flesh in order to serve God or does their life show evidence of pursuing the way of the world and the lusts of the flesh?.
Revelation 1:19-20 tell us that John was told to write prophecy and part of the symbolism, used in Revelation, was explained in those sentences. We need to be aware that devil-motivated men will try to give us wrong interpretations of prophecies. As a result, we need to reject all interpretations given by anyone who goes against an interpretation literally provided by the word of God
.
Please also check the Prophecy Fulfilled section since sometimes the prophecy and the fulfillment are put into a single note. Please also look at other sections, such as Harmony; for some prophecies such as prophecies for the suffering, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ
.
The prophecies about the suffering and death and resurrection of God's Messiah / Christ
are an excellent example of how God fulfills prophecies. No one, including all of the religious leaders who lived at the time of Jesus
, understood earlier prophecies about the suffering and death and resurrection of God's Messiah / Christ
even though the prophecies were in the Old Testament.
suffering of Christ, and of the saved sharing in that suffering, include: Matthew 12:40; Matthew 16:21; Matthew 17:12; Matthew 17:23; Matthew 20:17-19; Matthew 26:11; Matthew 27:34; Mark 8:31; 9:9; Mark 9:12; Mark 9:30-32; Mark 10:32-34; Mark 14:64; Luke 9:22; Luke 9:43-44; Luke 11:30; Luke 18:31-33; Luke 24:6-7; Luke 24:25-26; Luke 24:46; John 2:19; John 3:14; John 8:28; John 12:32-34; 16:16; John 19:20; Acts 3:18; Acts 17:3; Acts 26:23; Romans 8:17; 2Corinthians 1:5; Galatians 6:12; Philippians 1:29; Philippians 3:8; Colossians 1:24; 1Thessalonians 2:14; 2Timothy 3:12; 1Peter 1:11; 1Peter 1:19; 1Peter 2:21; 1Peter 3:18; 1Peter 4:1; 1Peter 4:13; 1Peter 5:1; 1Peter 5:10. One of the main applications of the

Jesusprophesies their future suffering and death.
Jesuschose when to die - (see those notes for more references) in: Matthew 27:50; Mark 15:37, Mark 15:39; Luke 23:46 and John 19:30. He prophesied that He would do this in: John 10:15 and John 10:17-18.
Jesusannounced His future crucifixion and the resulting salvation of many people.
Jesusreveals Judas as his betrayer as reported in Matthew 26:21-25; Mark 14:18-20; Luke 22:21; John 13:10; John 13:18-19; John 13:21-31. Luke 22:3 tells us
Then entered Satan into Judas surnamed Iscariot, being of the number of the twelve.Thus, we know that Satan was also involved. We also have references to this event in Psalms 41:9; 69:1-4; 6-8; 19-21; 25-26; 109:6; 8; Matthew 10:4; 17:22; 20:18; 26:2; 21; 23; 24; 45; 46; 48; 49; 27:3; 4; 26:24; Mark 3:19; 14:10; 11; 18; 21; 41; 42; 44; Luke 9:44; 22:4; 6; 21; 22; 48; John 6:64; 71; 12:4; 13:2; 11; 18; 21; 18:2; 5; 21:20; Acts 1:16-20; 1Corinthians 11:23. In addition, Psalms 109:4-20 is a prophecy about Judas Iscariot. In John 13:19
Jesussays:
Now I tell you before it come, that, when it is come to pass, ye may believe that I am he. Thus, He gave this prophecy of His betrayal so that people would know that He was God's
Messiah / Christ. Please remember that Luke 24:25-26 says
Then he said unto them, O fools, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken: Ought not Christ to have suffered these things, and to enter into his glory? Therefore,
Jesusprophesied His betrayal so that they would search the scripture and know that He was God's
Messiahs / Christ, and understand that He would rise from the dead. While we can not know all of the details on unfulfilled prophecy before it is fulfilled, we should understand it enough to believe that God will keep His promises even while hiding exactly how He will do so.
Jesussaid that the prophecy about Elias returning was already fiulfilled by John the Baptist.
Jesusprophesized that He would be
scourged.. Matthew 27:26; Mark 15:15 and John 19:1 report that this prophecy was fulfilled.
Jesusprophesied that all of the disciples would be offended because of Jesus in Matthew 26:33-35 and Mark 14:27.
Jesusprophesied that Peter would deny knowing Jesus in Matthew 26:34; Mark 14:29-31; Luke 22:31-34; John 13:37-38 and John 16:32.
Jesusprophesied the arrival of Judas Iscariot and the mob to arrest Him just before they came and before the other disciples realized that the mob was coming. This sentence fulfills the prophecies of Psalms 41:9 and Psalms 55:12-15.

Jesusgave a prophecy to king Herod when He sent the message:
Behold, I cast out devils, and I do cures to day and to morrow, and the third day I shall be perfected. The part of the message where
Jesussaid what He was doing at that time proved that He used the power of God and also proved that His prophecy would come true by the power of God. The phrase
the third day I shall be perfectedprophesied His power and position when He rose from the dead.
Jesus: Matthew 26:61; Matthew 27:63; Matthew 27:40; Mark 14:58; Mark 15:29; John 2:20.
Jesusprophesied the resurrection of Lazarus before it happened.
Jesusraised the dead in: Mark 5:22-43 (Daughter of Jairus); Luke 7:11-15 (Son of the widow in Nain); John 12:9-11 (Lazarus);

As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God(Isaiah 45:23; Romans 14:11 and Philippians 2:9-11) means that the eternal dead will recognize Him as God before they are cast into the

Jesusprophesied the coming of the Holy Ghost. The same promise is found in John 14:26 and John 15:26-27. However, that required His return to

Jesus, as a 'literal physical man', would be accomplished with his death and resurrection. The prophecies about

Jesusdid

I am come in my Father's name, and ye receive me not: if another shall come in his own name, him ye will receive. This means that
Jesuscame in the power and authority (
in the name of) God the Father, as He has explained in that chapter. Not only do we have the explanation of that chapter, but we have His demonstrated power in the miracles that He did and we have His demonstrated wisdom in His answering every doctrinal challenge given to Him.. In addition, our sentence tells us that Religious people accept the true Biblical
antichrists, who are in the world today and they will accept the
beastof Revelation. That will happen, of course, just before the return of Christ.
Jesusprophesied that the
stateof the Jews would be worse, after His crucifixion, than it was under Roman rule.

Jesuspromised that
whosoever will save his life (in this world) shall lose it (in the 1,000 years reign of Christ): but whosoever will lose his life (in this world) for my sake, the same shall save it (in the 1,000 years reign of Christ).
Jesusprophesied the experience called 'Transfiguration of Jesus Christ'.. That promise was fulfilled in Matthew 17:1; Mark 9:2 and Luke 9:28). These references also prophesy the return of
Jesusas ruling
Lord(Also called the 'Second Coming of Christ' and the start of the '1,000 years reign of Christ'.) In addition, Matthew 16:21-28; Mark 8:31-9:1 and Luke 9:22-27 all tell us the requirements, that
Jesusgave, for saved people to receive reward, and not punishment, when He returns to rule this world for 1,000 years. These instructions occur between the time that Peter declaring that
Jesusis the
Christand the time of the Mount of Transfiguration. In context, all three events (the declaration, the instruction, and the Mount experience) are related.

He also used the phrase:
a light to lighten the Gentiles, which references: Isaiah 9:2; Isaiah 42:6-7; Isaiah 49:6; Isaiah 60:1-3 and Isaiah 60:19. He also used the phrase:
and the glory of thy people Israel, which references: Psalms 85:9; Isaiah 4:2; Isaiah 45:25; Isaiah 60:19; Jeremiah 2:11and Zechariah 2:5. Then in Luke 2:34-35, we have more prophecies. The phrase:

Jesuswill change the way that God's people interact with God. This is actually a prophecy for the 1,000 years reign of
Christ. At the time that John the Baptist offered this prophecy, God was still offering the 1,000 years reign of
Christto the Jews. However, the Jews rejected
Jesusas their
Christand
Kingafter this prophecy was given. Therefore, God withdrew this offer to the Jews at a later time.

Jesusprophesied the coming future 'Church Age' and that members of the true church would fast after His ascension.
No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strong man; and then he will spoil his house. This was a prophecy that

I sendis future tense, not past tense. The equivalent phrase in Luke (Luke 11:49-51) is:
I will send. Therefore, this is a prophecy of future events in the New Testament and not a reference to past events of the Old Testament.
Wheresoever this gospel's shall be preached throughout the whole world, this also that she hath done shall be spoken of for a memorial of her.. This was well before any of the New Testament was written and what is written in the new Testament is the basis for
this gospel (that is) preached.

the scribes and Phariseesas compared to the religious attitudes that were expected in the New Testament Church. Please see the note for Luke 5:36-39 for a detailed explanation of these parables and their prophetic aspects.
Jesusprophesied the destruction of Jerusalem because they rejected Him and crucified Him. That was the physical destruction and when the Jews were driven out. In addition, this prophecy was also fulfilled with the destruction of the Temple and the Jerusalem Church. God used the Church of Antioch to take the Gospel around the world because even the saved Jews refused to do God' will.

For I say unto you, that this that is written must yet be accomplished in me, And he was reckoned among the transgressors: for the things concerning me have an end.The note for this sentence, in the Book Study on the Gospel of Luke, explains this sentence. However, the important part, for this section, is the last phrase which tells us that all prophecies, dealing with His first time of living on this world as a literal physical man, would be fulfilled with His death and resurrection. The prophecies about

Jesus Christ. Please see the Prophecies Section for where these prophecies were made in the Gospels. In Luke 24:6-7 the angels told the women
He is not here, but is risen: remember how he spake unto you when he was yet in Galilee, Saying, The Son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.(The resurrection of
Jesusis reported in Matthew 28:1-10; Mark 16:1-8; Luke 24:1-12; Luke 24:44 and John 20:1-10.) We also see this fulfillment in all of the references found in the Section called Appearances of Jesus Christ After the Resurrection. Thus, we not only see the fulfillment of prophecy stated within scripture, and we are told that this was the fulfillment of scripture. In addition, we also see this fulfillment of prophecy stated within the New Testament in: Matthew 26:54; Matthew 26:56; Mark 15:28; Luke 21:22; Luke 24:27; Luke 24:32; Luke 24:45-47; John 2:22; John 19:29; John 19:24; John 19:28; John 19:36; John 19:37; Acts 3:18; Acts 8:38; Acts 13:27-33; Acts 17:2-3; Acts 18:27-28; 1Corinthians 15:3-4; 1Peter 1:11. the Christin Matthew 16:16; Matthew 16:20; Matthew 26:63; Mark 8:29; Mark 14:61; Luke 3:15; Luke 9:20; Luke 22:67; John 1:20; John 1:41; John 3:28; John 4:29; John 4:42; John 7:41; John 10:24; John 10:27; John 20:31; 1John 2:22; 1John 5:1. One of the most common usages of this phrase is to associate
the Christwith
the Son of God. Thus we see that a major part of the argument here was over the Deity of
Jesus. The main reason for that argument was that the rulers of the Jews were denying this truth because it threatened their personal power and position.

as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth [Hell]. 1Corinthians 15:3-6; 2Corinthians 5:21; Galatians 3:13; Titus 2:14 and 1Peter 1:11 are just a few of places in the New Testament that explain why Jesus Christ had to suffer.
Jesusis reported in Matthew 3:13-17; Mark 1:9-11; Luke 3:21-22 and John 1:32. As part of that event, we read:
And straightway coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens opened, and the Spirit like a dove descending upon him: And there came a voice from heaven, saying, Thou art my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased(Mark 1:10-11). This is the fulfilment of a prophecy which God the Father gave to John the Baptist so that John could identify God's
Christ.

Jesusdirectly and indirectly told them that he was the promised
Messiahsor
Christ. (Please see John 10:24-25 for an example.) The phrase
I am he, meaning that
Jesuswas the promised
Messiahsor
Christis found in John 8:24, John 8:28; 13:19; John 18:5, 6, John 18:8; Revelation 1:18 and Revelation 2:23. The phrase also occurs elsewhere meaning something else, but in each of the references listed here,

We see the fulfillment mentioned in: Matthew 1:1; Matthew 21:9; Matthew 22:42; Luke 1:31-33, Luke 1:69; Luke 2:10-11; John 7:42; John 7:42; John 18:36-37; Acts 2:30; Romans 1:3; Romans 15:12; 2Timothy 2:8; Revelation 17:14; Revelation 19:16 and Revelation 22:16. (The word
Messiahis the Hebrew word that matches the Greek word of
Christ.) Further, the promise to David from God was partially fulfilled in Solomon, but only partially. Since it was not completely fulfilled, the Jews understood that there was another physical descendent from David who would fulfill this prophecy (see Hebrews 4:6-9 for similar reasoning applied to
rest).

Did not Moses give you the law, and yet none of you keepeth the law?As explained in the note for this sentence within the Book Study on the Gospel of John,
Jesuswould not only have to know the personal sins of each person who was there but He would also have to know the Mosaic Law well enough to know how each of them violated it. Therefore, while not obvious, this sentence proved to the Jews that
Jesusknew the Mosaic Law very well even though their religion taught them that such knowledge was impossible without a formal education. In addition, this sentence is evidence that
Jesusis God because He knew the personal sins of each person who was there. As the
Judge of all the earth(Genesis 18:25;
Jesuswould have been very careful to not accuse anyone falsely because to do so would make Him
unrighteous, which God never is. In addition, an accusation from Him could result in an unjust punishment and God is never unjust.

Then said Jesus unto them plainly, Lazarus is dead, in John 11:14; which was before He went to where Lazarus was at. Then John 11:17 tells us that
Jesusfound what He knew He would find. Therefore, we see that
Jesusknew what could only be known by God and this account eliminates any claim that
Jesusmight have made a mistake and proven that He was less than God.
Jesussent two disciples to get a colt that was tied where He sent them. He also knew that He had other disciples that were there and how they would react.

And Jesus said, Somebody hath touched me: for I perceive that virtue is gone out of me. So, the question becomes, how did
Jesus
perceive that virtue is gone out of me? How did He
perceivethis fact?
Jesuswhile he prayed alone in the garden. Yet, none of this is described ad being displayed later when he is before men. The only way that Luke, or other men, could know these things is by God's

is not one of the 'Ten Commandments' but is the basis od them. It is: Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. Jesusdealt with devils He also did miracles. Therefore, many of these references are the same.
Jesus, there were many people who
departed from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils(1Timothy 4:1). It is important to pay attention to the context of the fvollowing references which tell us about
Jesusdealing with devils. When
Jesuscast our devils, it was a physical demonstration of His correcting doctrinal error and the context gives the doctrinal error that he was correcting at the time. For example, Mark reporets that, at the start of His ministry,
Jesusastonished the people with His doctrine because it was different than what the scribes taught and He spoke
with authority. The scribes did not have
authoritybut quoted religious traditions and other religious teachers.
Jesuscast out their false doctrine and, as a physical example, also cast out a devil with devils being the authors of false doctrines.
